2022 Year-end Review

Post by bangminton » Sat Dec 31, 2022 5:15 pm

Hey fellas (whoever is still perusing this forum), I thought I would start the traditional year-end review thread. Feel free to share your experience and lessons learned and hopefully we can continue to remain in the black in 2023!

To say 2022 was an eventful year for us ProLine players would be a massive understatement. OLG introduced the new platform in April and that was more or less the end of the edge plays, as we knew about it for a good part of the last 2 decades or so.

I only play Props with OLG and nothing else and I will end the year in the black, my net profit and ROI is a fraction of my all-time high last year but I take comfort in the fact I have settled into a new routine and will continue to keep my eyes open for new opportunities.

Wishing you and your family a healthy and profitable 2023 and may the winners be yours!

Great to hear from you givaldo! I hope all is well and enjoy the new hobbies!

You are right, I suspect a lot of the old-timers have just decided to hang it up. I can only speak about my experience with OLG but the current climate is very challenging to make consistent scratch.

OLG updates odds and lines in (almost) real-time so you are constantly on your toes. They also limit winners (at least with their online portal). I suspect the other books are even more ruthless.

This has become more entertainment to me now than serious side income, as we used to enjoy in the good ol' days. But there are more benefits that come with this new landscape as well: I have been exercising and traveling more, re-connecting more with other family members and friends, especially as most pandemic restrictions have been lifted.

All the best in 2023, my good man!

Hi Bang,

As you know, I've been playing Proline props since the change, and it's been different, wayyy different from the good old days.
I'm not just playing props, but assorted other offerings online (i.e. MLB/NHL/NFL futures, and boosted parlays).

For the new people just starting out, go out there and try out the +ev Boosted Parlays (i.e. Bet 365, Bet 99, pointbet) to get a leg up on the sports book (1-3% bankroll). It's a great way to grow your bankroll over time, and get used to the new environment. As a guide, I use Betsamp Discord to identify said +ev parlays on selected sports book, play 1-3% depending on the edge, and do it daily.

As for playing retail props, I often goto store and then select my plays. Why? Proline prop lines are such it changes really quickly, so better to get your picks ready at a moment's notice.

All the best to people who persevere on this new environment.
It's tougher to play, but the rewards are there for the taking. Go get it!

Red. =)

Good to hear from you guys I still frequent here daily pretty much out of habit. I am in the Red for Proline this year . My year starts in September so its early and its not that I am losing it is just my sample is small for Proline . I am doing Good in others areas of gambling other then Proline but I could rambling on for a hour about betting angles that have been taken away. I am still fully committed to continuing down this path of sports gambling and overwhelmed with the various projects to keep sustainable +ev betting. The Rec books are kinda distracting as they do not provide sustainable +ev but its hard not to shake the money tree. These books are ruthless and pathetic but if your not just betting off market lines they tend to leave you alone until your account reaches 5 figures at which point its over. Do not be afraid to make -ev bets on Toronto and to leave your account inactive for long periods of time with a balance.
I mentioned this before all the changes and I still believe new things will developed with all the buzz around gambling and a slow period was to be expected. However I do fear in general things are getting harder to fast which could lead to the death of advantage sports betting but maybe I am being to extreme out of fear. I know when I am on the train to a sporting event there is no shortage of donkeys placing -ev bets and it is like they are multiplying.

Happy new year guys . Best of luck going forward!

good luck everyone and happy new year.
Other than the occasional props OLG is pretty much spot on for most things. If you are still grinding out edges kudos to you.

Happy New Year Everyone!

I too tend to check this forum daily just out of habit. It is one of many open tabs and whenever I think of it I tend to hit refresh.

Sportsbetting has been a lot of fun for me this past year. Like everyone here I was of course disappointed to learn that OLG would no longer be offering the traditional Proline products that we have come to love. But April 1st, with numerous sportsbooks coming online, made up for it.

OLG props definitely had more advantages early on. They were still learning the ropes and it was not uncommon for them to offer significantly off market numbers on NFL props early in the season. I find it is very rare that they offer off numbers now. I should also say I spent much less time looking now than I did earlier on. And when off market numbers are offered often the same prices are available online.

Two things that stand out for OLG. The first of course is the removal of store limits. This certainly opens up opportunity, though opportunities are now fewer between. The Petro Points 5% offer was amazing as well. I won't be paying for gas for a few years. One day they offered one game with a handful of wide receivers and offered their rushing yards as a bet. I maxed out the machine at one store. I suspect that they were using the average rather than the median when they offered these. So while it may be true that Wide Receiver X is expected to have an average of 2.5 rushing yards, in four out of five games they would have zero rush attempts. I was annoyed that day when they cancelled every wager I made and refunded every ticket. But I got the 5% in Petro Points and 2% on my credit card so couldn't stay upset for long.

I haven't bet much with Proline the past couple of months. I have had a lot of fun exploring online opportunities. From small markets to live betting to props to casinos and everything in between I have had fun poking around for angles.

Anyway, I wish everyone reading this the very best in 2023.

Great to hear from you lads! (red, rich, tshi and Buff)

Does anyone know why OLG didn't offer Props for SNF last night and nothing so far for MNF? Is this truly the end of a great run?

I have a sneaky suspicion they want to re-direct players' interest to their flailing Props Pools Cards but I have no interest in playing that total crapshoot and I hope I am proven wrong.

Happy NY 2U Badmington

I think this opening of the market just ruined sports for me. Its everywhere now. Can't even watch CBC hockey without Cabbie coming on & giving us an odds update. & Cabbie was no gambling expert at the old Score. Red Heat & Morency were the 2 who dealt with that side of sports. Whether I win or not I still am supporting OLG, at least it goes to the province & I know what u saying, its the GOVERNMENT. Ya, but when I see Tavares pimping OLG, I can't resist.

Good luck to all in 2023. Waiting for MLS soccer. That is where the value is.
