NFL Survivor/Suicide Pool Discussion

I know a few fellas have dabbled in Survivor Pools (also known as Suicide, Elimination Pools) in the past so I thought I would create a thread to discuss weekly picks to help us win our respective Pools.

The Pool format is pretty simple: Pick a team to win straight up (no pointspread) and you can only pick a team once. Sound simple enough but it's always the case of easier said than done!

I am not sure if this is the right forum to post so feel free to move it around as you see fit, PLP.

When doing a cut/paste try using the 'format' button (2nd from the right above). Any text that's between the 'format' commands will have the spacing, linefeeds etc preserved. You may still have to play around with it a bit but should be able to get the text to line up correctly.

I would be looking at the Steelers this week. They should handle Tennessee easily enough but they're not good enough to "save" for later on. Indy is a close second but I feel like Pitts is a more proven commodity with coach Mike Tomlin and Big Ben at the helm. It would be nice to hold on to Indy for the first few weeks until you know exactly what it is you've got. Chances are they'll still be really good and will have a few opportunities for easy wins later on anyway (Jax @ home, Tennessee @ home).

Also... The broncos are 9.5 point favourites in week 1 against the super bowl champs... I know the ravens overachieved last year and lost a lot of pieces in the offseason but... Damn. Gotta like the Ravens as a dog this week.

Week 1 and 2typically see an upset or 2 that will knock out a bunch of entries. Hope I am not one of them . Some Pools will allow buy-back (usually only after Week 1) so we will see how it goes.

Falcons is another candidate and obviously so is New England. Still plenty of time left and not all lines are available.

Pitt, Tampa, and Washington losses knocked out about 20% of entries in our Pool. Let's go San Diego!

If I had guts of a cat burglar, I would take Oakland......maybe. Jacksonville looked beyond horrible last year, but this is Oakland we are talking about, so I am not sure.

Lord, I would stay away from Oakland, there are 32 teams in the league and this Pool only runs for 17 weeks, there is really no reason to touch these bad teams.

I also think Chad Henne is better than Blaine Gabbert, maybe the QB change is what's needed to get this team going.
